In line with helping Sentosa achieve its Green Plan to
establish Sentosa Island as an innovator and leader in
sustainable tourism, EV HUB & Sentosa Development
Corporation have launched the first electric vehicle test
bedding on the island. Launched in May, a used Renault
Kangoo diesel van which has been fully converted into a plug
in electric and approved by the LTA is being used by eight
members of the island's maintenance staff to perform their
daily duties.
Various data is logged and captured on a daily basis so that
valuable insight can be gained on all aspects of EV use in
our local environments.
About Sentosa Development
Corporation
Sentosa Development
Corporation (SDC) was established on 1 September 1972 as a
Statutory Board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Its main mission was to oversee the development, management
and promotion of the island. Under the care of SDC, the
island went through a makeover to become a premier getaway
with multi-faceted appeal. From business conventions to
beach parties, Sentosa caters to an extensive range of needs
and interests.
A
critical component of our CSR plan is the Sentosa Green
Plan, which helps to establish Sentosa as an innovator and
leader in sustainable tourism. Our Green Plan has the
following strategic objectives:
Maintain island charm and environmental sustainability
amidst increased visitorship and land-use developments.
Protect and enrich Sentosa’s natural resources (flora and
fauna) to preserve our unique proposition of a 60 per cent
green island resort to guests and residents.
Conserve resources and reduce our carbon footprint by
leveraging eco-friendly and sustainable business practices,
standards and innovations.
